What made you decide to use Shake Hands?
I developed an anxiety disorder while working at my previous job and had to quit. After that, as my anxiety about the future grew, I felt like nothing was going to happen if I just stayed at home, so I looked up Shake Hands on the internet, became interested in it, and decided to use it.
What benefits have you seen from using Shake Hands?
Shake Hands has helped me slowly regain my confidence.
When I was working at my previous job, there were many tasks that I couldn't do well and I made many mistakes, so I fell into an extreme mindset and thought, "I'm not needed by society."
However, by learning new technologies such as Illustrator and Premiere Pro and taking part in projects, I was able to change my mind and realize that there may be something I can contribute to society, even if my own contribution is small.
What do you particularly like about Shake Hands?
I feel that it was very beneficial to be involved in an actual project.
While it may be possible to learn tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro at vocational training schools or courses, it seems that there are few opportunities to be involved in actual projects.
However, Shake Hands provides us with a variety of work, including the production of a magazine called BiWorks, which focuses on welfare for people with disabilities, a YouTube channel run by the company, and animation production.
Personally, I felt great joy when a video I had made was posted on YouTube, and it gave me a positive attitude towards work and made me want to be more involved in society. At the same time, I feel that my speed of acquiring skills has improved since I started working on projects.
Where will you be employed?
I have been accepted to work as a life support worker under the Type B continuous employment support program.
I would like to use my experience as a working student at Shake Hands to become a support worker who can become a close presence to the users.
Who would you recommend this to?
If you are worried about your future or feel like you are pushing yourself too hard, please come and visit Shake Hands.
The support staff will carefully listen to the possibilities that you may be limiting and help you expand them.
(I myself am not particularly good at design or using computers, so I started from scratch, but as they provided me with work that suited me, I gradually was able to give shape to my ideas. I feel that seeing my creations take shape has given me confidence.)
